Linux is amazing environment with dozens of commands which you can use to find out all source of information. In this article I'm going to show you how to display basic infos on Linux distribution and even the date of your distribution installation.
Show the date of Linux distribution installation
In this part of article, let assume that you want to now the exact date that you have installed your Linux distribution of choice. In order to accomplish that, you can use the following command.
Upon executing above command, it should display the exact date and the name of the Linux distribution.
Show the basic information on current Linux distribution
If you want to see some basic information on the current Linux distribution such as name of distribution, host name, current kernel, uptime, current shell, CPU & GPU, you can use the program called screenfetch. Make sure, before running this program, that it is installed. In case it is not, run the following command to install it.
Once installed, you can run this very useful program which will display all the basic information on your current Linux distribution. Only thing you need, is to type in the following command.
